Let me introduce myself, my name is Kara and I am the person behind the lens at Memories by Menzies Photography. I started Memories by Menzies Photography in August 2022 after welcoming my son earlier that year. My journey to motherhood was not an easy one. After 4 years of tests, needles and lots of heartbreak, welcoming our little miracle was beyond compare (thank-you Newlife IVF!). We documented every moment with him, every new outfit, new experience, new facial expression and soaked in every moment. He is the reason I decided to pursue photography; because not only did I want to experience and cherish every moment with him, but I also wanted to help other families capture these moments and memories with their own families.
You always hear how quickly your children will grow and how fast they change. With my son, I now know this to be true. The importance of photography in being able to stop a moment in time, document life as it is ever evolving, and create memories that last a lifetime cannot be underestimated. Photographs truly are priceless.
Photography has always been a part of my life, although previously in a hobbiest capacity. Prior to beginning Memories by Menzies Photography, I mostly dabbled in landscape photography and documenting moments from holidays or living in Indonesia. Nevertheless, the decision to go into newborn, maternity, family and children photography was an easy one. Having already worked in child care and most recently as an Indonesian teacher, my entire working life has been centered around children and families. So I dived in head first and began my Diploma of Photography to fine tune my skills and learn about the world of portrait photography.
Now, as a mum of two beautiful babies, I am beyond grateful for the ability to capture my own newborn photographs and my two beautiful babies together. Although it all feels like a lifetime away, I know it won't be long before both of my little loves are running around the house together, beginning their first day of kindergarten, learning to drive or graduating from high school. So here I am, valuing and capturing every moment from behind my lens, ready to help your families freeze your precious moments in time so that over the years you too can see all the pieces of your life come together.
